On some pages, in the right sidebar I want an image (could be preview of youtube video, better still if I can choose my own jpeg). When you click on this image, it opens a lightbox and plays the youtube video (a single video, not a choice).
I think it involves some combination of widgets, porfolios, lightboxes, shortcodes and maybe featured images, but I am confused?
You can create a single portfolio item which has a placeholder image and video to link to.
Now create a postfolio page by shortcode which shows only that portfolio item in a 4 columns portfolio list (4 columns because you need to have a more or less small thumb which fits into the sidebar).
when you have to shortcode the way you want it and only showing this video.... with a thumbnail you can insert this shortcode into a textwidget into a sidebar and it should work.
Thanks for your guidance Paul The video plays - just two problems remain:
1. No related videos breaks autoplay ---- In "Edit Portfolio Item"..."Video Link for lightbox", if I add "rel=0" to stop related youtube videos showing at the end, the autoplay when lightbox appears stops working, even if I add "autoplay=1" as below
I want it to autoplay and show with no related videos at end.
2. Unwanted titles/captions ---- On the published page, the title from the Portfolio shows below the sidebar image and again beneath the video in the lightbox. I don't want either. Is there a way to suppress them. I can't save the Portfolio item with no title, and I alrready set Feature Header Type to disable in the Portfolio.
Thanks. If these are restrictions, is there an alternative way to simply display a lightboxed video from the sidebar (without requiring an html programmer)
