Blog - Featured image lightbox has no description
  • I've just noticed that if you enable the featured image optiong for the blog, and the lightbox display, the lightbox shows no image description/caption at all. Could this be fixed?

  • Hi stormy,

You are posting all of this stuff after updating to wp 3.4.1 correct? Please post all in the one thread dealing with wp 3.4.1 rather then generating a new thread for each error you encounter.

  • As far as I know, thiss issue isn't 3.4.1-specific. I've just verified it in one of the blogs from your Showcase that is running 3.3.2.
  • Hi Stormy

BTW, thank you very much for the post over on the Striking Themeforest comments thread. Such posts are invaluable as user feedback is the best barometer for a potential buyer and has a huge impact on buying decisions.

You are right, it is not showing anything at this time. i think in fact we committed to fixing this, as there were one or two other requests on this recently, and we missed it.

But there is a neat little trick, that can make the single blog post page a lot more exciting, and that is to have the feature header serve as the place to place to display the featured item. Striking has this ability, can you guess how? I am teasing, if only because no matter how much I mention it, few users seem to grasp all the different things that can be done with the feature header - on a single blog or portfolio page (or any other page for that matter) it can be a wonderful resource with capacity to accomplish many things.

Stormy, let me know if you have any questions, although I believe your knowledge level is good enough for you to guess and play around with some of your options right off.

  • Well, I think I need a hint :)

I see how you can use the feature header for the blog meta, for custom text/slideshow (and combinations), but not for the featured image.

Or should I simply choose custom text and use html/shortcode there?

    Best regards,
    Jorge
  • Hi Jorge

One thing you can do is set the slider for the feature header to nivo or anything slider, and then grab the "Self-Gallery" and it will display the featured image. You could also set the featured image to Title and Slideshow, and this give you the ability to put a big title above the image as well. You can center the title etc using inline html.

Another option is, as you understood, to use the custom text, and post an image into the featured header, which can be your featured image, or anything else you want it to be.

Those are two of the simple conduits for putting the featured header to work on the single post page, and I suspect you will quickly find out all the other abilities now as well. One's limits here are really only limited to one's abilities and imagination.

Any further questions don't hesitate to ask.
