"Loading Tweets" slows down the site load
  • I have just found that Twitter is being slow to respond (what's new?) and it seems that while the theme waits for Twitter to respond ("Loading Tweets"), it delays the load of some other elements, in this case, some iframe embedded content.

Is there anything that can be done about it?

  • Hi,

It does not slow down your website. There seems to be a problem at twitter. We all have this problem right now.

  • Could this be coded with "lazy" loading (maybe it already is?) so it doesn't leave the browser's "loading" wheel spinning continuously?
  • Yes it does. also at my browser right now.
  • Sorry but I don't understand your reply :)

At least on Safari (Mac) when the tweets doesn't load, the page never finishes to load, and the browser spinning wheel in the tab doesn't stop.
  • Yes i have the same problem.... twitter is causing this and it will go away mostly with 24 hours when they resolve their problems.
  • Got you. So, no way to prevent this from happening in the future?
  • Hi,

As you could have read by now twitter was under a ddos attack. There is no way prevent this in the future? It is sad that someone tries to wreck the system.

  • Yes, what I meant is that the code that fetch the tweets could be programmed to stop loading earlier if there's a problem, or use some AJAX that doesn't make the page look like it's still loading :)
  • Hi

Regretfully, there are no plans to have Striking include a timeout function for twitter. We are releasing an update shortly to take care of residual errors, but our focus on Striking for the next while is improvements to the help fields within the admin and videos.

We are seeking to set the code for Striking at this time so that our user base can have a period of update stability (per many many user requests) allowing the user base to focus on using the existing features in Striking to their maximum potential.

    Best Regards
