Has anyone found a store locator plug in that works with Striking?
  • I have tried 3 of them and the map only shows when I use MapPress which is not really a store locator... the other I have tried are Simple Map, Store Locator Plus and Google Store locator.... the map never shows and I do in fact have the correct API Key... but I beleive there is a Java conflict. I have emailed if the developers of these plug ins can help but that is slow.

DO the Striking developers know if there is an issue in Striking that prevents the map from showing?

  • Hi Antigravity

Sorry, its the first time this has come up. We are so busy tasking on the new wp 3.4 release, plus a bunch of other things, that I will put this on our "to look at list" but that will not be for some time (at least a month, truly that is how backed up we are).

I am sorry the news is not better. Perhaps a striking user may have done some work on this, but in over 5500 threads (we have deleted many redundant ones, and another purge is coming soon) its the first time a question on this topic has come up.

    Best Regards

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment...I have Wordpress 3.2.1 and one developer said maybe its the version of Wordpress I have... but I'm scared to change anything since my site works well without buggy issues...

It would be great to know when Striking can do this or if anyone knows how to make it work... In the mean time I will try updating Wordpress. Very interesting that no one has brought this up since so many have used Striking....

This is such an important issue for anyone who has their products in stores. I have over 60 retailers now and it's getting a little embarrassing to have this many retailers and try look like a professional organization but not have a dealer locator map like my competitors.

It's probably something simple but I'm not knowledgeable in code issues...
  • Hi Antigravity,

May i ask what version of striking you are running?

  • From the change log file that is in my Striking folder.... Version 3.0.6.1 - July.1th ‘11.... I bought it on July 8 2011.

I have installed a Store Locator plug-in called Simple Maps ....After some testing per the developers trouble shooting page I have found it must be a conflict with Striking itself.... I deactivated ALL plug-ins and it still did not show the map or drop pins for the locations. Then I changed the Theme to the Wordpress defaults of 2011 and 2010 and the map showed with the drop pins in both the themes...so it must be some conflict with the Striking Theme unfortunately. Maybe an upgrade would correct it. But I'll let you tell me what you think.

I have tried also turning off the feature header thinking it may be something, but that did not help.

If you do have any suggestions please let me know...I have the ability to eliminate or add code if you suggest what to remove and where...and this would be a huge benefit for the website to have the store locator.

    Thanks for any help.

    Regards,

    Scott-
  • Hi Scott,

The problem is that we are working with striking 5.1.8.1 I need to have the store locator plugin to see if it works in there. Because there have been so many changes on all the scripts displaying the google maps we cannot revert back and check out you problem on that version.

You cannot expect that from us. So you will have to send me the plugin in order to test this.

did you try embed the store locator shortcode in raw tags?

    [raw] [the shortcode] [/raw]

  • Hey Paul,

The Raw tags made it work! Awesome! I'll let you know if there are any issues after I test more. I have attached the SimpleMap Store Locator file anyway so you guys can check if it works in the later versions of Striking. I will upgrade my version of Striking soon. If you could shoot me a response after you try it with the latest version of Striking that would be great...
  • Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback.

i have removed the download you attached so it wont get unintentionally world wide spread because it is a paid plugin i guess.

i have to make a not so i wont forget to test this.

    Best regards,

  • LOL, Stupid me - as we have been working on other work which has removed the need for the raw tags, I forgot all about suggesting that. Big egg on my face! :))

Thank you Paul for suggesting what should have been obvious to me.

    Happy Striking

  • Just so you (or anyone interested) knows the plug in is actually free at Wordpress, but you have to pay to get the what they call the Pro Support, but there is no additional features for paying... just the support from the developer.. I paid the fee but luckily you guys helped before I spent hours more dinking around and posting in the support forum...

    Solved for now.

    Thanks again
