I use some well optimized images for my Nivo Slider but somehow Striking is making them around 15% larger (larger file size/ "weight") once they are set as featured images. Is there any way to stop this behavior?
I am not using Timthumb ("Use Timthumb" is set to OFF on the Striking Advanced panel).
I think you will have to remake them for the featured image area. Because of the different size of the box they are handled differently.
Could you try to make on exact fit into the featured image box? And see what happens then?
So a newly created image just for that box only and upload it into the media? So you have the image twice in your wordpress media . Once for the slider and once for the featured image.
My Slideshow has the default 960x440 px and all my images were already fitting those dimensions, it is what you meant, didn't you?
Just in case my first comment was confusing, when I was talking about the "featured image" I was just making a reference to the step of uploading each image to its slide item. The problem is that the images on my site's slider are larger (weight more) than the original ones.
...So i suggested to create optimized images for the featured image container. Since they are not the same in size as the slider images....
Hi Paul,
Sorry if I am missing something basic but, as far as I know, for each slider item there is just one image, the one set as "featured image". I mean, there are not two images per slider item, the "slider image" and the "image for the featured image container", just the last one. Am I doing something wrong? What I do in order to create a new slider item is:
New item >> I set the featured image >> Choose a category >> Publish
Maybe I am misunderstanding the word "container" when you talk about "featured image container".
1) We are struggling to compress the images. We compress them then it still shows as an error. It's like there is a script that runs and resizes them for the slider.
Please goto the striking advanced settings and turn off timthumb and turn on clear cache. Save the settings. Just dont use timthumb anylonger please !!!
the link to the image. that cant work because it is a jpg which cannot be in a dynamic created path to a page which only exists within the wordpress internal system. I dont know where that link is coming from. I have to see the page the image is inserted in. Anyway it is timthumb related and can be avoided by turning timthumb off.
i wonder what version of striking you are using because the image name should have a id attached to it. Moreover i see all old code files from a earlier striking version at your website (old script files). Please upgrade to the latest version. You cannot expect us to search a bug or any other error in a previous version of striking which might have been already fixed in the latest version of the theme. Thats why we supply updates.
1) I have latest version of striking. I just checked. "Updating Theme to the latest version. You are using the latest version. " I think my IT did some bad work possible and left a few old files around. (How do I remove these?) 2) When I switch off timthumb images do not show. See http://personalfitnesstrainer.co.za/about/ nor does my slider show. 3) I have the exact same issues with another site lab41.co (where if I switch of timthumb the images do not show)
