Setting the height AND width of a slider -why so complicated?
  • I really like the Striking theme, but I can't believe how complicated it is adjust both the H and W of the sliders.

Currently trying to adjust the width of the Anything slider, but the instructions here are confusing and sometimes contradictory.

I can't understand why there aren't both height AND width settings on the SlideShow settings page for each slider?...

    Thank you,

  • It is because the Anything slider js functions based on a fixed framework, which is not the case for the height.

But it may not be necessary for you to actually adjust the width. What I think most users do not realize is that you can set the Anything slider to html, and then insert column and or layout shortcodes, and make the Anything slider appear to be any width smaller then the overall frame of 980px using html in each column. But if you wish to go wider, then the issue becomes that you have to adjust the theme framework as well.

Advances in html and js are such that were this a brand new theme with no legacy users, it would be possible with some sliders (but not all) to have adjustable width as well.

I also point out that we sell the theme "as it is". It is a fixed framework theme. Adjustments of any sort and support we give are entirely voluntary, and when we have time. To date, we have collected a miserable couple of hundred dollars in donations even though we have provided literally tens of thousands of dollars (more likely in the hundreds of thousands) of free code advice. Really, users should come to the forum, and for something other then code errors, try to help each other with customization. Otherwise, when doing advanced customization, they should be prepared to pay for that expertise.

    Best Regards
