Simple Gallery
  • Hi,
I have what I thought was a simple task but appears to be more difficult than expected. I want a Gallery button at the top of my page and when I click that I want a full width page with my title and feature image for each gallery (or gallery category) displayed.

When I click on a gallery (or category) I want a full width page with thumbnails of all photos in my gallery. If I click on an image I would like to see a large image of that photo.

I have used a few paid themes in the past and to Kaptinlin's(?) credit this is the most extensive however this process was very easy in the others and is driving me mad now...

    Please Help!

  • Hi,

The easiest and fastest answer for me would be....

Please setup a test site and import the striking demo data which came with your purchase and you will see how it is done and build.

The more difficult answer is that i make screen dumps and pointers of all the things you should do.

Most important is that you start adding portfolio items.

Look into the portfolio settings of the added item below the editor window.

Set the type to image and add your image for the portfolio page as featured image to that portfolio item. When clicked on the featured image in a portfolio page.... the larger image will open.

Or set the type to gallery. Add a featured image to that portfolio item and start adding images to the gallery in that portfolio item. When clicked on the featured image the gallery will open....

You should add categories to the portfolio items in order to group the images.

Further more you need to add a page called portfolio or whatever name you like and set that page in the striking portfolio items to be your portfolio page.

However the more i write the more i belive you should upload the demo content to see the examples that came with the theme,

Once everything has been setup then the button and the other questions are "kinderkakke" as we say. Means easy todo.

    Best regards,
