I've just updated to the latest version of the theme on this website : http://caketin.co.nz and I've found that the slider and some thumbnails are no longer working.
So far I've tried clearing the cache under advanced settings and disabling all plugins. I've also checked all permissions and receive the same issue.
What is the easiest way to revert to the previous version of the theme?
Its not that easy to revert, although you could try deleting striking by ftp and then installing striking 5.1.7 by ftp, and that should successfully revert you (you will have unused mysql functions and tables in place in the database but as they are not called, we think should not present an issue).
But I think your problem, whatever it may be, is likely resolvable if you can pm Paul and Lin with your wp and ftp logins (I am off tomm and all weekend). I would still suggest that first, vs reverting.
I'm also experiencing the same issues. No sliders or thumbnails are showing since the update and this is really urgent. We've also noticed small layout changes too, such as menu icons being distorted and text that previously fitted on one line has been dropped onto two now. We've never had any problems with the theme until now, so this must be related to some code that has been changed. Please can someone help resolve this ASAP. Thanks.
as for the not responding to your pm. I completely overlooked your message. We are only human you know and make mistakes also. Sorry about that. It was not intended to be overlooked at all.
On the issue of the double menu when a child theme, we have discovered that depending on how one did the update (ie if you did not delete the child theme first prior to updating) for some reason the main functions.php in Striking itself fails in the striking 5.1.8 update as a result.
So the solution is to grab the functions.php file for striking Ver 5.1.8 (I have attached as well) and ftp it into your striking theme folder. After installation, the double menu should go away.
See the 5.1.8 error the functions.php is attached to that message. Just download it rename it to functions.php and upload it by ftp to the original striking folder not the child theme folder.
i can not do this for you since i have no ftp access to your website.
however i see you website working. The sliders are there.
If you did the update and you still have the double menu we need ftp login details as well and we will look into this today whit kaptinlin as soon as he gets online for us.
All sorted now via combination of trial and error + reading other posts in the forum.
Ultimately what I think fixed it was :
1) updating the child theme 2) activating the default theme and clearing the cache 3) re-activating the new, updated child theme
The reason I started to use the child theme was to make updates as painless as possible and in this case, I guess I overlooked the possibility that the child theme needed to be updated too.
Thank you for the reply. Striking is still lightyears ahead of the average Wordpress Theme and generally works VERY well.
