  • Just installed W3 Total Cache and as soon as it is activated it my home page Nivo Slider disappears. As soon as I deactivate it, it comes back. Does anyone know why? http://healthierliving4you.com is my site. Thx

  • Hi

if you disable minify in the cache plugin it probably works.

  • Hi BackuPs,

You are correct, it works! Thanks. However, when I don't have the minify 'Enbaled', it takes my website with YSlow to a D from a B. Any suggestions? Is there a better plugin, more compatible with this template?
  • Hi,

    You can try

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bwp-minify/
    or
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/js-css-script-optimizer/

    to minify the js scripts.

It can improve the loading speed. however i do not know if they conflict with the theme. just give it a try.

  • I had problems with W3 Total Cache so I went back to WP Super Cache.
  • Hi Steve,

the problem could also have been caused by the combine js and combine css settings in the striking advanced settings in combination with the w3 total cache.

  • Hi cjacobs,

I had exactly the same issue with w3 Total Cache. After some trial and error I could get a score between 90 and 94 (A) on Yslow and on Google Page Speed (both running on Firebug) for most of the pages of my site. I must admit the process was quite tedious and took me quite a lot of time to get everything right. Hopefully my settings will work for you too. This is what I advise you to do:

    1) As BackuPs said, turn Off "combine JS" and "Cobine CSS" in the striking advanced settings but make sure "Move Js To Bottom" is turned On.

    2) Download "W3 Total Cache Installation and Configuration Guide" by Antti Kokkonen (I enclose the file) and follow the instructions up till page 19, then export your "W3 Total Cache" settings so it serves as a backup. The point is that when I started working on the "Minify Settings" doing the trial and error method with all the JS and CSS scripts, file by file, I lost all my settings several times, if this happens to you just import the settings so you don't have to start from scratch.

    3) On "Minify Settings", starting on page 19, follow the instructions but also have a look at the minify settings that worked for me and use them as a reference, I enclose 3 screenshots. On the "JS file management" section Watch out for the "Embed location" setting you choose for each file as it was crucial for me to keep everything working. On the other hand the "Template" setting (on the "JS file management" section) never worked as expected and I had to leave it with the default value ("All Templates"). I had to leave some JS scripts without being minified, such as "jquery.colorbox-min.js?ver=1.3.19" and "jquery.tools.tabs.min.js?ver=1.2.5." I could not also minify "skin.css".

    4) Once the "Minify Settings" are done, keep following the "W3 Total Cache Installation and Configuration Guide" instructions till the end.

Note: For me it was very important to test every page on my site every time I made a change or a bunch of changes on W3 Total Cache, specially when working on the "Minify Settings".

I am sure I've missed some details so do not hesitate to ask me if you need help.

    Regards,
