I am having a serious problem with a website of my customer using the Striking Premium Corporate & Portfolio WP Theme.
I am the hosting company manager and just moved M. Terninck's website to our new server.
Every configuration between the 2 servers is the same except for the database. The old one used MySQL 5.0.95 while the new one uses 5.1.61.
The problem is that the right modules (widgets) and footer module/widget do not appear anymore.
Of course since this website is using a temporary URL instead of a regular domain, I had to change the IP in the database for every instance of the old IP in any stored URL.
Do you think the database version change could be causing the problem? The website's content is exactly the same except for the IP URL instances I changed in the database. So it should work, this process worked just fine for all my other Wordpress installations.
Do you have some antipiracy protection that would prevent the modules to appear when changing the URLS? I agree that this looks like I had used the template paid once on two websites. Personnally I think this is the only logical explanation to the problem.
Besides not appearing, when we look at the widgets in the backend, they are still in place, but emptied from their content! So M. Terninck tried to enter the content again in the widgets. At first it did work, but after a while he saw the right widgets disappear.
I then looked at the database again and found 5 instances left of the old IP, which I changed, only to see the bottom widget disappear after seeing the last reference to the original URL disappear from the database!
This is why I think this can only be a piracy protection issue.
Can you please help quickly? I've been working unsuccessfully on this issue for days on now, and the old server is going offline saturday night at midnight.
You can write me personnally at bfortin@satori.ca I am managing the hosting of M. Terninck website.
PS By the way, I can send you M. Terninck's invoice in private for proof of payment. Just let me know.
