Workflow Question: Slider from a Gallery
  • Hello,
Great theme and excellent support from what I've seen. Congrats!

Is it possible using any existing combination of plugins and the Striking theme to create a slider (semi-)automagically from an existing gallery? I'm new to wordpress so maybe I'm using things incorrectly, but there's a few "media" things I find very very difficult to manage for a larger site that isn't purely a blog (something striking does well at hiding).

    I would like to:
    1. upload an image, tag it with keywords

    2. have the image automatically go into a gallery based on the tags given
ex. a tag with "visualization" is thrown into the "visualization" gallery

    3. in a post add a slider who's content (image, caption, etc.) is automatically pulled from a gallery
ex. gallery item 1 = slider item 1, etc...

    4. upload additional image with same tags and have it get added to the gallery and slider automatically.

I can do 1 & 2 using standard WordPress and the "Wordpress Media Library Plugin", but I can't seem to find a way to do #3. To be honest, I'm finding it incredibly cumbersome creating a new slider item for each entry (40+ projects, 300+ images with more every day). We would like to have sliders throughout a site we're rebuilding with the flexibility to rotate images and add new ones easily. Is this possible or am I asking too much?

Example format of what we're trying to achieve with CMS (click on an item to see an example "project")

    Thanks!

    E.

  • Hi,
    Will http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery works for you?

I can make the slider pull form the image in a post gallery.
I didn't want to make support for Wordpress Media Library Plugin because not every users use it.
