Dear kaps, The Espresso plugin has a calendar optionwhich should be here: http://www.thetangoclub.com/our-calendar-events/our-calendar/, but won't display at all now in this new version of Striking. It does work if I preview in TwentyEleven so i think it is a conflict with Striking. I had a recent menus problem having upgraded and this was about the JS in footer setting, this is now resolved but I don't know how to diagnose this calendar problem much less fix it.
This is pretty crucial to me since we have just set up in a new venue and my members need to see the new calendar. Can you help? Can I roll back to the previous version of Striking?
I don't understand why my posts seem to get lost, I've written this once already. Anyway here goes again..
The code alreday uses the raw tag: [RAW][ESPRESSO_CALENDAR show_expired="true"][/RAW]
What is wierd is that I added a line avove this to say we had a temporary problem, this doesn't get displayed either. I have had previous hicoughs with espresso but since the calendar works in the "twentyeleven" theme I think there must be something in striking that is producing the problem - it must be something that changed with the new version.
Since we ave just moved and our calendar is changing it is extremely important that we get this fixed. If I must how could I roll back to the previous version safely?
i haven't got a clue on a save rollback to a prev version without having a backup copy of that version...
What you could do to test it is make a complete backup from the website content and database as it is now. I mean a complete backup!!!! all folders and data in the database !!!
then revert back and see if it functions if not your can always get back to this point because you have the backup.
If you have any questions left don't hestitate to ask them.
Yes but where do I do I get the previous version of Striking? And if I get it how do I install manually? And, finally, what is the effect of installing a previous version "over" and current version?
i do not know what the effect will be i never needed to revert like that. I always make a backup first of my old situation before updating/upgrading. Or i test it on a test wordpress in which i insert my current website data and settings.
You asked for what if you revert to a prev version. I assumed you had the prev version.
I guess you will have to wait until Kaptinlin get's back to take a look at your problem. Maybe he can come up with a solution.
btw i do not know when kaptinlin will be back on the forum. I will send him a link to this dicussion.
Sorry but i cannot help you out right now. I tried my best.
Should have said I am not sure what the previous version was the only files I have are 5.1.5 which I think is the latest and the one I was on before was some time before that maybe 2.2.3. but I can't locate the installation files.
I am really desparate about this, please help! [-O<
the latest version is 5.1.7 and you are running that version. I do not think reverting back to 5.1.5 will solve it because bugs in 5.1.5 have been fixed in 5.1.7 so reverting back to 5.1.5 will bring back those bugs but also i think that version will not solve your problem with that plugin.
You cannot most definitly revert back to 2.2.3 it will not even work with wp 3.3.1
i can not help you anymore on this we need kaptinlin on this.
Ok thanks for trying, just feel really depressed, I love Striking and the website has recieevd all sort of great comments because we use this theme but I really need the Espresso plug-in as well - despite it being occassionally flakey. :(
I also have the same issue with the plug-in, the calendar does not show if the Striking theme is used. Please help!!! I have a desperate client! This is what I was told by the plug-in developers "the theme you are using does not call wp_footer(); in the footer. The scripts appear to be missing from the footer." Hope it helps!!
Unfortunately same issue KaptinLin. (Emailed you also before I found this thread.) Event Espresso was thinking it has to do with how the shortcodes are called in function. When removing the shortcodes load in theme.php calendar works but is shown in duplicate. But, obviously everything else is broken then. Would appreciate your help to resolve this for all of us. Thanks!
Looks like I was able to just create a custom page template with help from Event Espresso. Just added <?php echo do_shortcode('[ESPRESSO_CALENDAR]');?> and removed it from the WYSIWYG editor.
