v5.1.4 Slider images broken when using timthumb. Non-timthumb works fine.

    After upgrading my theme, my slider images are missing....even when i create a new slide the slider image is broken also... this used to work fine.. is anyone else having this issue.. please advise.. thanks.

    Hi menkom,
    You may go to striking->advanced options page to diable timthumb support. Then clear the cache. Go to your front page to see if it works.
    Also you may need to clear cache in striking->advanced options page.

    If not, you can try use ftp client software to change the permissions of striking/cache and striking/cahce/images folder. Make they have 777 permissions.

    Hi KaptinLin thanks for your reply... i did try the above and it did fix it. HOWEVER even after clearing cache, changing chmod permissions on directory and renabling timthumb the images are still broken. It seems timthumb is the issue here i need to leave it constantly disabled for my images to show. So i have left it disabled for now.

    Is this a problem ? does it need a fix ? can i leave timthumb disabled permanently ?

    You can leave timthumb disabled permanently. Striking now has a non-timthumb alternative for image handling. But the timthumb issue will be studied by Lin and my daddy. they fix everything so .....

    I will leave this open as Lin may reply in this when he wakes up. I changed to ver 5.1.series error reporting.

    pls also confirm whether you are using Ver 5.1.4 as you said in your title or new Ver 5.1.5.

    Hi menkom,

    As Morgan said, you can leave timthumb disabled permanently.

    Non-timthumb image handing function will do as well as timthumb. And it have some more advanced features than timthumb. E.g. You can cache the image to improve the site speed.
