Sept 6 Please be advised the striking demo on themeforest is running via 4.0.2 including all the sliders. The pictures of the panels, found in various places in the demo, have been updated, and work is underway on displaying more of the Striking Features, in the demo. James

If you don't know how to use a feature, this is not the place to post. This thread is only for "errors" related to the new release, generally related to core coding, not how-to or customization questions.

Based on user reports, we believe that there are almost no core code issues left in the Series 4.0 version (fingers crossed!). There is an outstanding issue with performance of some video in IE 8 which is reliant on a third party script, and for which the script author has yet to provide a solution. We are following up on that matter.

Should you find that an issue has carried over from your prior reporting in the 4.0-4.0.1 reporting thread, that we missed, don't hesitate to raise it here.

I notice inconsistent spacing after a blog post: there's much more space when viewing just that post, as opposed to on the homepage. This is true even when gap between posts is set to 0px. Here's a picture from http://torley.com/blog/2011/what-do-you-mean-almost/

Compare that to the front of http://torley.com with the exact same post. The expected behavior is that the space should be the same, unless otherwise specified! :)

While I would not term the space to be an "error" got your point and will get back to you. I think what is occurring is a default wp behaviour, but we will have a look see at the code, and get back to you. Please give us a little time, as we have some other things to address that genuinely we assess to be a higher priority.

Using 4.0.2 and I lose my heading content (logo and all navigation) in most recent version of iOS/iPad. Also took out a couple footer widgets--the footer headings show but not the content; see attachment of main page/heading

Also noted that during load, the navigation/links load--but without any CUFON. But then it disappears. Almost looks like a layers issue. But I'm just throwing darts.

Troubleshooting efforts:
* Using most recent version of WP
* Using most recent version of theme and child (using theme without child--no change is problem)
* Tried disabling ALL of my plugins
* Disabled all custom CSS
* Tried different sliders but problem is site-wide.

...nothing seemed to work. All elements were restored and working when I changed back to Striking 3.0.6.1. For the purposes of troubleshooting, I left the 4.0.2 version live

Hi M. Striking make no claims about ipad compatibility. Striking was never deliberately tested for ipad in any way up to this date. Another user commented on the same ipad behavior recently if I recall correctly. It will be looked at, but regretfully it is not in the same priority queue as core code for the main browsers. Perhaps their is a plugin for ipad rendering that might assist?

The cufon rendering is a well known and much discussed topic over the last couple of years on the web - including this forum. I personally suggest that if the same font exists in font-face, use it.

Nice slider transitions - good use of the 3d slider, but I think I have seen the stock image with that lovely brunette a few times on the web! LOL

Hi,

I've purchased and installed the v4.0.2 theme on my WP3.2.1.
I use 2 different languages thanks to the WPML2.3.4 plugin.

I have discovered that the theme is localized but not fully internationalized. I mean that the dates and times displayed have no format string defined (for instance get_the_date() and in this case the default format is used) or an hardcoded format is used (for instance get_the_time('F jS, Y')).

Many languages have a date and time format different than the en-us format. In this theme this is not taken into account.

The date and time formats are "translated" in the global WP .po file, so I solved this issue by simply replacing where it was relevant (not in time meta tags for instance) the date calls:

get_the_date()
by

get_the_date(__('F j, Y'))

It is OK for me now, but I think it would be better this correction is fixed into the theme once than every time by myself after each theme release.

Do you think there is a chance you add it?

I did update to the new version but that slider with Sidebar option is still not fixed. I have already sent login info to kaptinlin

I think I wrote in a thread on the weekend that I had some questions about your problem. But since you have sent off to Kappy your logins, I will let him do his thing, and see what transpires. Sidebars in the Anything slider, if that is what one wants to term the html portion of each slide, are working fine. In fact I just looked at another site by another user (who has a post in this very thread on a small issue) who had some beautiful slides with sophisticated html, in the anything slider. He is using the latest version of Striking.

However, whatever the issue is, it needs to be addressed. Kappy and I have a huge time difference between us, so sometimes we don't speak for days. I will trust that he does his thing, and if nothing transpires then let me know.

THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. THE FLUENCY PLUGIN CAUSES A JS CONFLICT WITH THE SHORTCODE GENERATOR SCRIPT. DISABLING THE PLUGIN RESTORES THE SHORTCODE GENERATOR TO FULL WORKING CONDITION.

ONCE WE ARE PAST THE NEXT UPDATE, WE WILL SEE IF WE CAN DETERMINE THE CONFLICT AND IF ANYTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT.

I'm still having the google map in the general settings not show up in the admin panel. I've tried replacing the theme.php in the framework folder as well. Any ideas how to fix this?

There is no gmap settings in the Striking General Panel. They were removed in the Ver 4 series as the google map api is not necessary anymore. The Gmap shortcode and widget are now each standalone, and have all the attributes within them that you need. Nor did we see the sense in having a macro switch to turn Gmap on and off, so it was removed.

The Gmap issue addressed in the update was for a diff issue reported by another user who was having a problem with the shortcode appearing when they tried to insert it into their page.

Now you just insert the gmap shortcode where you desire, and you can do it simply by specifying the address. You do not need to use longitude or latitude attributes either, just specify the address, choose what attributes and controls you want to show with the map, its size, etc, and it is done.

Also noticed something. I have a few icons that are loaded with the image shortcode and they are pngs with transparent background and the loading icon is still spinning behind them. Do you know how to get it to stop or fadeout?

I recall that you wrote in the 4.0/4.0.1 thread that you had the same issue as Hudo. I think we need more info. The sliders work. I can tell you this if for no other reason then we are at over 1700 downloads of the newest version by users, and we don't have 1700 complaints about the sliders (yet, lol). Our development demos have sliders by the gazillions working - I even posted pretty pictures on the weekend of the Anything slider in action in one of the threads. The Striking demo on Themeforest with all the sliders in action is also ver 4.0.2.

Seriously, some info would be helpful. Slider type?, are you localhost? Plugins installed? I know you have a wpml issue reported on Sept 1, and have not replied back to Kappy's question. Whether it has any relation to the slider problem I cannot say since we lack any real info at all on your situation. We want to help, but need a more info from you.

Just edit this post with some info in reply - as all are aware, this thread and all reported issues are the priority.

WPML 2.0.4.1 (latest free version) - there is newer ofcourse
WordPress 3.2.1

1) Since the theme was working fine with WPML Plugin before, now in Striking Blog settings when you select page for blog, for main languge it wokrs fine, but for second there is a mess with links to posts, they are go to main language again.

2) With WPML 2.0.4.1 you try to import shortcode, there is no scrollbar in shortcode window. Also "Insert" button doesn't work.

The new version of striking don't support wpml 2.0.4.1 any more for it have some bugs with wordpress new version.

LOL - Vadim, I don't think CSS styling is a core code issue! Had you posted this in the forum under Customization or Usage you may very well already have received an answer to your question from another user. I believe there are past threads on this question as well, or very similar in nature which you could search in the forum.

the sidebar has a padding attribute of 25px, so you could look at reducing that to give your self more room. It has an overall width of 300px, but can be resized - there are some forum posts dealing with resizing the main content/sidebar area using custom css which you can search.

For the lines, each widget type typically has a border declaration block and selector. So for each widget in which you want to alter the style in the manner you are seeking you would have to input a different selector into the custom css field on the Striking General panel.

Not knowing which widget you wish to remove the border, I will guess perhaps the post list? Here is the styling for it, and you can change that which you desire:

I hope this info is of some use to you. It is not really feasible for us to build in a "switch" for turning on and off lines into the admin. All of the theme CSS is found in striking/css/screen.css if you have interest in taking a look for your customizing information.

Still having problems with autoplay/resume on end function with Anything Slider. Had problem in previous 3.0.6 version. Saw someone else did too. I was able to seamlessly update the theme no problem. Now the issue is that the video is the first slide. It plays for a second then goes through each slide. When it gets back to the video, it plays all the way through. Happens in both FF and Chrome. I just went to your site. In FF3.2, IE9 and chrome. This is what I observed:

1) you have the video on autoplay, and loop turned off. The video file is 7.8MB.
2) In both Chrome and FF3.2, the video commences within a 1-2 seconds of the page loading, the delay attributable to the video buffering (I am on drydsl, so my max download speed is not as high as someone on true highspeed, perhaps their would be no delay for such a visitor). Chrome was slightly quicker then FF - not surprising given the relationship between google and youtube. Video quality was excellent, and on completion the replay option came up.
3) Behavior in IE9 is not as good. It clearly takes longer for the video to buffer, and the video renders not as well when playing - I .
4) There was no subsequent slide, and I think you may have removed them in the interim. You will have to confirm.

I can shoot a screen video of what I observed, on my monitor, if the info is of any assistance to you.

I am waiting for feedback from Kappy on the latest on IE behavior with the Anything slider.

Just to report, updated to 4.0.2 from 4.0.1 and the 2 of the 3 issues reported in this thread (http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/comment/9696#Comment_9696) have been fixed. Thanks guys, legendary work!

The unresolved issue (point 1), which was discussed further down in this thread (http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/comment/9761#Comment_9761) I'd just like to raise in case it highlights anything (but it may just be highlighting a past issue that has since been resolved). Kaptinlin, I understand what you are saying about "ImageType" property, however I previously created the shortcode using the generator in v3.6.1 and so the shortcode in that page was "as is". Previously it was displaying fine as a left float and without the "ImageType" property, and then once updated to 4.x this became a problem and started displaying as full width ("ImageType" was now required for it to display properly when previously it wasn't). It may be that the shortcode generator in 3.6.1 had a problem and wasn't generating the appropriate "ImageType" tags, or that the interpretation of the property fields was changed in version 4.x hence why it may have resolved in 4.x. Again, just raising it in case it highlights a bug.

Hi Dean. A number of new attributes, to give one display options, were added and the imagetype attribute was one of them. So it is not a bug. James

Suggestions

1. It would be great if you could set the width of the left float thumbnail in the blog shortcode independently of the global settings.
2. It would be great it the feature image had both a width and height setting which limited the image size based on the smaller of the two and then display portrait or landscape accordingly. Current feature image works well for landscape images but not portrait. This would help resize portrait images nicely, which currently display as incredibly huge on a page (not sure if this is possible).

#1 I think could be implemented and will be examined. #2 is more difficult as some of the properties people are inquiring about or indicating they wish to change are not striking properties, but default wp behavior, and it is not always easy to amend. Sorry guys. It might be insignificant to many but it's a big deal for me. I've uninstalled previous version and installed 4.0.2 on my live site and I have these annoying boxes/lines with rounded corners around the widgets I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of. I kept my test site on the old release of the theme and as you can see there it looks fine - http://humanpowerfactory.com/cflictest/
Now on the live site - http://crossfitlic.com - there are those lines and I might be dumb but I can't find where they are defined in either settings or in the code. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thinking of going back to the previous release if can't find the fix...
On another note, tabs shortcode with the video that I had on the front page stopped working, so I had to get rid of it and just place the video by itself. That's minor though.

On the rounded corners, my first thought was "I have to ask him how he did that, I really like it!" And of course he, being you, wants to get rid of it. I think however, the rounded corner wrapping is coming from the theme background images which are in css sprite form and we have to adjust this. I will confirm with Kappy and we will get back to you.

Nice work with your anything slider, very vivid pictures and testimonials.

Ok, so I tried changing Anything slider to just two videos and still having same problems. I have tried different toggle combinations. All I have set is the nav links so it can be manually changed. But none of the delay or resume toggles work for me. Only way to get first video to play through without advancing six seconds into it is to leave it off.

New issue! Client informed me tonight that page was acting up. When I went on both videos in slider were playing at same time. When I paused them both you could still hear both audio playing! How is that possible?

I commented in your post above. I also combined your two posts from the 7 into one - you can edit a post to add more info to it - you will see the option appear in each of your posts that you put in any thread.

To be blunt, I do not know why this is happening. This weekend, regretfully no sooner, I will test out the behavior myself, first in order to duplicate it, and then to try to determine the issue.

I want to confirm - when you had 2 successive slides in the Anything slider, and each was a video, both videos commenced playing at the same time with the subsequent behavior as per your comments above.

If you could please do us the following favor: load the two successive video slides again. then provide screenshots of your Anything slider settings, your slide code, the browser you experienced the behavior on, etc. Any and all information will be of assistance. If you don't want to provide screenshots, please advise on another alternative for us to obtain the info we need.

alternatively, you can message and email kaptinlin@gmail.com with logins, but you should try to set a time with him in advance, so that you have the slider set up with the multiple slides so he can attempt to diagnose the issue. If he goes there and just the one slide is setup, and he sees nothing wrong, he will just post a message back saying everything was fine. If you message Kap, once you have sent the message you will see an option to include others in the conversation. Include me please.

You image is transparent. So it will not overlap the loading icon.

Anyway, version 4.0.3 will fix this. Just look forward to it.

I went to your site, and the anything slider seems to be functioning great. I saw 4 diff slides (Aspects, Engage einfrastructure, Engage Two-way, Engage Overall). They render great, transition fine, no delay. Only thing I did notice about the site is that your feature background and footer color are rendering as blue in IE and Chrome, and FF 3.2 is rendering the color as more of a greenish blue. That I am going to show Kappy - I am aware of the fact the 3 browsers are rendering some colors differently - it is on my research list to see what we can do to counter the different browser behaviors on this color matter.

If I am missing something in respect of the issue you are having with your slideshow could you please reply in this post?

It does work. The Anything slider on the Striking Themeforest demo is a live version of the Anything slider. But, I recognize you are having a difficulty. May I first ask, can you successfully load a nivo slider, on say your homepage, with 3 or 4 images? Could you do a test and get back to us? This will help us narrow down at least slightly the nature of your problem.

There are in this thread a number of reported problems by users of the slider. We already know that the script developer (we are not the Anything slider developer, rather that script has been incorporated into Striking) has acknowledged an issue sometimes occurring with video and IE8. However, it is also running successfully on many Striking user sites besides our demo.

Every situation in which an issue occurs is different. Once we have more info from you, we can attempt to nail down the problem - code? usage? other?

Other plugins can cause js conflicts - in the post above Kap indicated he thought that the sharebar plugin was the issue for Whiteey (Andy). It seems is not the case.

As I know you are a longer term user, when you updated your site did it just stop working? Did you do both the WP and Striking updates at the same time and what versions were you upgrading from? I ask this as earlier I went into another users site they were upgrading from 3.0 series of both WP and Striking, and after upgrading their slides were not showing- their permissions had defaulted to 644 for almost everything after the upgrades, and so the slides were not working.

Just seeking info and answers.

I am away tomm, but I am hopeful kappy will perhaps be able to react to anything you post in the interim.

PS, I went to the site Medtexter.com and saw that it was not working.

HI, I am not ignoring you, nor is Kappy. As you are a new user you would not know, but I am just returning to work after an extended absence (medical) and I am still not fully up to speed. So although I want to be on the forum everyday, certain days it turns out not to be possible. I did some posting on the 6th, and Kappy has confirmed to me he is following up on matters. We have a docket list of all open matters, from both threads (developers have tracker tools for this type of stuff).

We did not close your thread, rather we closed the 4.0 thread, and as noted above at the top of this thread, said to everyone, after updating to 4.0.2 let us know what ails you still, or anew. If you report back in the old thread, rather then here (which we task first) we may take longer to catch back up to you.

a) For changing the order of posts from date of creation, I suggest you use the Post Order Types plugin found at

This plugin will allow you to reorder your posts as you desire.

b) On your problem with webm videos, looking at your screenshot of the attribute screens, I noticed that you do not have the "Autoplay" attribute to the "On" position in the first group (using own videos on own site). So it won't autoplay.

You can have your videos in any folder you want on you hosting, the root or any subfolder (except cgi bin and similar type stuff of course) - as long as the file path is correct.

BTW, if the site is on shared hosting, you may have problems with self hosted video. Self hosted video is very resource intensive .

c) In respect of sub menu reordering, I want to confirm that you are referring to your drop downs of your main menu items. If so, and you wish to reorder, their are two ways to do this:

1) If you are using the normal wordpress Add new page panel for creating pages, on the left hand side you will see a section on page Attributes. The third item is the "Order" Attribute. You can set this attribute to be a low number, for example "0" or "1" and it will then place this page in advance of other pages in the sub menu under the Parent. Note that you may have to then go to the other pages that have this Parent and give them a new "Order" number - if they share the same "Order" number and are an older page they will take precedent, if my memory serves me correctly.

2) Go to the WP Menu Panel (found under Appearances) and create a custom menu, which has the additional benefit of enabling drag and drop to sort out menu order of child menu items.

d) On the cufon problem you noted, can I ask if you did anything at all in terms of custom cufon styling via CSS, new plugin, etc? Something has to have triggered this to happen - it does not just arbitrarily start acting odd like this after having not been an issue prior to the event. May I suggest that you check to see if the font style exists in the font-face fonts provided in Striking? Many of the font styles exist in both Cufon and font-face, which was deliberate of Striking, so that if one had a rendering issue via one format, they could switch to the other.

All Users should be advised that the moment one starts customizing a font, it is no longer a code error, but a user responsibility. The base font is supplied in a set format in the theme, and other then the attribute switches for color and size in their respective Striking Panels, any changes are the sole risk of the user. Why? Because custom fonts are very twitchy - it is up to the user to understand how the diff browsers can read and react to font rendering - the developer forums such as stackoverflow have hundreds (I think thousands actually) of threads and comments about font rendering problems in diff browsers, and customizing problems. Many are not resolved.

e) On IE not recognizing the body font, did you customize the body font in any way? I think my questions from "D" above are the same here.

f) On the twitter issue is that still happening? To this point and time only a single twitter issue has been reported for Striking series 4, and our tracking has it as resolved. Please update, and provide a page link and if browser dependent.

Yes I am seeing the same problem with viewing this on the iPAD.
I will try the iPAD plugin suggestion - but it USED TO WORK fine in previous versions.
Any other ideas on what to disable to see how we get it working to isolate the problem?

PS. Please don't minimize the importance of the ipad btw it is 10% of browser traffic in my country and growing fast! My clients ALL have iPADs so that 10% equals 100% of my business - they don't see it on their iPAD the theme is broken, regardless of it working well for desktops.

Love the effort you put into this, so I understand you have to prioritize

Hi Dan.
I think Ipad testing is on the list. Themeforest does not require Ipad confirmation, nor confirmation for any mobile device. Usually a site requires a mobile plugin in order to convert for various mobile devices including tablets.

Truthfully, I do not know why it did work before, and does not now. Cannot even tell you if it is theme related, or related to the wp core update that coincides with the theme update.

Kappy is the mac person so this is in his hands for some work down the line (but not in the next few days I am afraid).

Hi M. Striking make no claims about ipad compatibility. Striking was never deliberately tested for ipad in any way up to this date. Another user commented on the same ipad behavior recently if I recall correctly. It will be looked at, but regretfully it is not in the same priority queue as core code for the main browsers. Perhaps their is a plugin for ipad rendering that might assist?

The cufon rendering is a well known and much discussed topic over the last couple of years on the web - including this forum. I personally suggest that if the same font exists in font-face, use it.

Nice slider transitions - good use of the 3d slider, but I think I have seen the stock image with that lovely brunette a few times on the web! LOL

I went to your site, and the anything slider seems to be functioning great. I saw 4 diff slides (Aspects, Engage einfrastructure, Engage Two-way, Engage Overall). They render great, transition fine, no delay. Only thing I did notice about the site is that your feature background and footer color are rendering as blue in IE and Chrome, and FF 3.2 is rendering the color as more of a greenish blue. That I am going to show Kappy - I am aware of the fact the 3 browsers are rendering some colors differently - it is on my research list to see what we can do to counter the different browser behaviors on this color matter.

If I am missing something in respect of the issue you are having with your slideshow could you please reply in this post?

I did not customise my cufon in any other way except adding the following css.

Cufon.replace("#footer .widgettitle", {fontFamily : "Daniel"});
Then I switched on ONLY those fonts listed above.
I have also tried the option of Cufon.replace("h1,h3,h4,h5,h6", {fontFamily : "Vegur"});instead of "Vegur-Light" ad it did not work
Now I have a QUESTION: How do I define that in the "Vegur" family, only the "Vegur Light" font exists cos I suspect this could be the problem being that the "Vegur" family contains some bold fonts (which appear when the site is loaded)
By the way, I also came by another site of a user here by chance and his navigation was just as crazy as mine -but this does not bug him obviously if he has not reported it

Since after installing 4.0.2, when I am creating a new page, it does not give me the option of chosing if the page should be full or with sidebars, or wth comment etc.
Hence I can also not edefine an already created page (if it should be with a sidebar, comment etc)
Where in heaven's is this NOW located? HOW can I find it?

On the autoplay, as you can tell from other posts, we are looking at whether the video attributes are being recognized correctly by some of the browsers, and what (or whom) is the source of the problem.

In reference to the hosting, the point I was making was that it can be difficult to stream self hosted videos in a shared host environment (file size, allocated host resources and # of server calls). I don't know anything about your hosting environment, I was simply alerting you to the fact that in this day of lovely, large 720p and 1080p videos, they can be difficult to serve up from shared hosting. Its not the space allocate for your storage, but the draw on server resources to stream high quality content. This is why Striking has all the 3rd party shortcodes such as youtube, etc.

On the font thing, if you are trying to render both Cufon and Fontface on the same page, to my knowledge this can lead to issues. I am no font guru, later once we are past the major hurdles I will investigate if this is still impt for you.

Having gone through the whole script files in striking, trying to locate anthing which MIGHT have to do with page attributes, with no sucess, I decided to GOOGLE my problem.
So I landed at a wordpress user page where it was suggested that one deactivates the current theme, replaces it with nother them, then reactivate it.
I did just that some minutes ago and behold!, My Template options is back!

So let's now concentrate on the font and video issue.
We are all learning everyday

I don't think anyone deliberately introduces a bug during a development process (it may be a language issue but that is what your last post on the other thread implies, although of course I know that was not intentional!) :-D

Kappy changed changed the video script from videojs to mediaelementjs in 4.0 and it appears to me that some browsers are not reading the video attributes (some of which have to do with flash) correctly of mediaelement js.

At this point, I am not in a position to say whether the problem is with Striking's implementation of the script, the media element script itself, or the browsers in question. This is in KaptinLin's hands to examine and resolve, but I don't yet have an update on his efforts and results.

As soon as there is more info about resolution, the forum will be advised.

But a big thanks for your diligence in examining the issue independently. I read all posts in detail, as does Kappy, and this type of effort to understand the problem independently of us is much appreciated.

I know it was not intentional. Development bugs do happen and I don't believe anyone would deliberately introduce a bug. I'm just trying to figure it out!

As for the browser compliance, I find it hard to believe that 4 independent browsers wouldn't comply with the standards and read the video attributes, as you say, in a faulty manner. However, it wouldn't be the first time that some big-shot software companies screw things up.

That being said, the problem probably lies with mediaelementjs or it's implementation. I say this because it's the most obvious thing that changed between Striking 3.0.6.1 and 4.0+ and affects flash playing capabilities.

Hi there. Not totally sure this is a bug, but it might require some upstream work with TimThumb folks or config tweaks ... so i believe it's worth you guys take a look at it.

clean install in WP3.2.1, with Striking 4.0.2 off the shelf.
Had usual problems with displaying thumbnails/sliders... checked documentation... checked cache file permissions and CD version:
GD Version: bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

Still was not able to make thumbnails work so went to TimThumb forum and found a potential problem with date_default_timezone as per http://www.binarymoon.co.uk/2010/08/timthumb/ entry of 28Jun11.

I finally was able to make thumbnails/sliders work by modifying the timthumb.php file

I included
date_default_timezone_set('Europe/Madrid');

right in line 155, just after

public static function start(){

and just with that worked for me.

While you have posted some lovely little links below, in fact this timthumb problem has been around longer then the dates of the two articles you posted (they were very late to the game on that matter) and the current version of Striking contains the upgrade in Timthumb to fix the vulnerability, as is noted in the changelog, and which we also noted in the forum header announcement under point #4 (although we actually implemented the fix in ver 4.0 and it is noted in that changelog).

As you can see, the Template Choice attribute IS NOT THERE:

My frustration of not being able to create a page since the 4th has overtaken my fascination of this template. I will have to buy a new template from Theme Forest because "Striking" is not striking if I cannot even create a page! in the face of which every other issue remains secondary
(I am wishing you could prove to me that it was MY fault)

I am very sorry that this has happened for you. If you could please use the forum messaging feature to send me a message with your wp and ftp info. To my knowledge this is a first to the best of my knowledge - we have had the occasional user not know where to find the page template setting, but I don't recall it ever disappearing and my forum search did not turn up anything either in respect of past instances.

Addition in the late aft: I had forgotten about switching to the default wordpress theme and then switching back as noted by our user "Nmask". It could fix this particular issue, which is a longstanding wp core item that we cannot do anything about on our end. Another possibility is that when one is missing options in an admin screen, it sometimes means that the server is blocking the theme option generator files. The aforementioned switch sometimes fixes this, but often one has to go in and reset the permissions on some of the framework files. I posted the link to this point I highlighted for another user:

I always forget about the simple solutions! Something about not seeing the forest for the trees type thing sometimes!! Thanks for chipping in. That does sometimes work.

For everyone, be advised we are busy drilling down into all the reported comments in both this and the older 4.0/4.01 thread, plus what we see on the forum.

I noticed that myself. Although I think for the half shortcode it may not matter (it did not seem to in the test I just did) we will adjust in the update, so as to eliminate any confusions. You can always manually type in the missing "_last" and save it if for some reason you find you need that.

Hello Kaptinlin,

Could you please bring the tab content textcolor and background color to the striking color settings? Now when you set the page background to lets say black and textcolor to white the tab content background remains white, but the text color goes to white as set default in the page. This is a big problem for me.

I now have to edit the css code everytime. Due to the gradient background filling this is not that easy.

Please bring these settings into the striking color settings.

Btw the accordion does work ok, but the tabs not !!!!

further more it would be nice if the (mouse) hover colors whould be called "hover" in the settings and not "active". This is very confusing.

I read your announcement about the 4.03 updates to Striking and wanted to know if the mediaelement.js video play/pause button issues with IE have been addressed as well. I also went to the updated Striking theme demo to test your HTML5 video, so I could see if the full-screen button works in Firefox, and it doesn't. Have you noticed this issue? It works in IE but not FF. I looked through the forum for anyone reporting that the HTML5 video full-screen button doesn't work in Firefox, but couldn't find any posts. Can you please look at that for this update too? Thanks for all your help.

Both the matters you noted are ones still not resolved. The demo online is in fact one of the test beds, and we still have several matters not yet resolved to our satisfaction.

The variances between browsers are really causing grief for the newest version of the anything slider script. People seem to think the different browsers adhere to the same standards and have a certain uniform way of dealing with html5, js and other web code, and nothing could be further from the truth. Each browser is fetching and reading scripts in a different manner, and some solutions don't seem to be readily apparent.

Anyways, work goes on, some issues have been improved, and others are still a work in progress. When it is all done, we will advise.

Regarding the Anything Slider, it looks as if there has to be a least one slider item without a sidebar to get any of the slider items to show in the slideshow.

On my site, I simply wanted to show three slider items, all of which have a sidebar. They will not show until I add a slider item that has no sidebar.

I just started building the site and I have no plugins installed (no conflicts).

Please fix.

Hello,

Upgraded to the latest version of the theme today, as well as the latest version of wordpress.

When I go to the portfolio pages I set up previously, none of the images are showing - you can see the placement outline of the where the images should be with a loading icon, except they never load. I have called godaddy and we have gone over all the troubleshooting questions you listed in your documentation and we have changed the appropriate permission settings. I have deactivated plugins to see if that works as well. Additionally I added a new portfolio page to see if maybe it was the old files that weren't working - same thing, just a loading box.

Its a usual WP admin menu located on left side where pages, posts, plugins, etc. At the bottom of those find Striking
Just go to Striking -> General, there you have to find dropdown "Header Widget Area" and choose there WPML flags ;)

Hi,

I submit a minor but quite annoying bug on the v4.0.2 version: when using the typography shortcode "dropcap" in an article, the letter inside the [dropcap] tags is not displayed in a blog page (see screenshot attached corresponding to the code below). In the article page, it is OK.

Edit link on Posts (below content and above "About the Author") disappears when "About the Author" Striking option is disabled.

Hi I was able to figure out how to bring the pictures back up by disabling the wp e-commerce (when i activate the whole site goes haywire, so i had to get rid of it) Additionally, I have had a number of issues since uploading the latest version, 3 of which I just can't figure out:

1. Contact Page is not showing any text underneath the headers and the map is down - also, the top menu does not show up at all http://selimahats.com/contact-us/. I've tried creating a new page and with the new page same issue, but the header bar is also missing.
2. can't remove the "view more" on the press section even though disabled
3. nivo slider does not work either and I can't download the link to the newest version you provided.

Also, less importantly but still confusing, the cufon.replace does not work.

Hi All

This thread is now being closed. A new Ver 4.03 issues thread will be opened, and hopefully it will be shorter then this one!!

All of the user comments were very helpful. We think we managed to address most of the comments and issues reported. If we missed one or two, don't kill us, its a lot of work, and sometimes we just can't satisfy everyone on demand.

We are going to open a separate dedicated Anything Slider thread, which will be for general discussion about this particular slider, as users are attempting to implement some advanced uses of that slider that it appears the slider code does not support, or if it does, it may take our combined efforts to work it out.

The Striking demo on Themeforest is via this new version 4.0.3.

Now that we have this release completed, I am going to hustle out the help videos, and also work on the documentation and online help for the theme. It will take about 1-2 weeks to complete this work, assuming we don't get sidetracked by responding to forum queries.

KaptinLin spent a lot of sleepless hours on this update. A big thanks to him for his work, skill and acumen.
