I uploaded V3.0 and V3.01. via FTP to my site and activated the theme to see if it worked. I'm trying to upgrade because I'm on Wordpress 3.1 and had the old version of Striking and was having the issue of the homepage slider not working at all.
But now, when I try to update the theme, it complete breaks my site!
When I uploaded and activated V3.0 it caused a server 500 error and I couldn't access my site at all. So then I tried V3.0.1 and it just gave me the "white screen of death" whenever I activated it (ie my wordpress admin panel just turned into a white page and my website became a basic wireframe without any of the theme designs ... it was literally just a list of links on the page).
Please, and this is for anyone reading this post - while I have just added a new thread about permissions, if your host setup results in you having slider issues, and you have spent some time on trying to make this work, and are only experiencing frustration, then we will help!!! All we ask is that anyone take an hour or two on the permissions issue (talking to host and a stab at changing them) and after that, contact us!
Please message me (click on my name - it will bring you to my profile page, "send a message" option is in top left hand menu)with your logins for both your site and for your host, and I will see what I can do. Either I or Kaptinlin will log in and make the adjustments. It is helpful if you relay what you host has said about there server setup, but if you don't have it, it is not a big issue.
We can only do so many of these a day, but send the message, and it gets dealt with in the priority received (yours likely tomm or Wed for timeframe) but it will get done.
Also include your ftp so your upload of the upgrade can be reviewed. If you were just upgrading, everything should still be in your database, and most likely all is fine. That sounds like an installation issue, and is quite straightforward to tackle.
It 730am, time for me to have a coffee, drive the children to school, contemplate life - but I will look forward to your info upon my return.
