Images not showing up anymore

Hi Kaptinlin

The following page was working fine before 5.1.7 and was showing its images. However for some reason it's no longer showing the images:

I tried turning on/off TimThumb if it makes any difference with cache clearing.
I noticed that if I turn off the plugin "CevherShare" then the problem goes away. Is this some Java Script conflict?

Slideshow only shows a single image

I have confirmed that all images are in the same slider category. No matter which slider I use only one image will show. I have checked the slider settings to make sure more than 1 is allowed to show.

Even when I select ALL categories only on shows.

Wordpress 3.2.2
Striking 3.2.2
No plugins active

White Screen of Death

I'm getting white screens of death when changing settings in the Striking admin panels and clicking the Save Changes button. Once this happens, I am unable to even access the normal Wordpress admin panels and the entire web site displays blank white pages.

The only way I can access the site or admin panels is to remove the Striking theme files from /wp-content/themes/ via FTP , then I can log in and manage Wordpress.

I am able to FTP the Striking theme files back into /wp-content/themes/ and set it to the visible theme in Wordpress and then it works fine, until I click a Striking admin panel button and then click Save Changes.

Has anyone else gotten the "White Screen of Death" with the Striking theme? Any ideas of what I can do to fix it?

font issue after the theme update

Hi,

after the update, I noticed the font for menus and stuff changed... I went in the menus to see what happened (nice and clean new interface btw :) and now, I get all kind of weird behaviors... not only the font change I do isnt being reflected on site in "real time" like its used to be but now, I have different font depending which page you see !?!

Also, the new font interface isn't working well in chrome, I had to use Firefox to see the font preview

header&footer colors disappeared and top menu changed it stylized appearance

Hi,
I am using your striking theme Version: 5.1.7.1. Everything looked perfect until today, when suddenly the header&footer colors disappeared and top menu changed it stylized appearance. www.drterren.com
In the theme settings is indicated the correct color, which is #006265. Navigation Button Style is ON, Navigation Parent Arrow is ON, Wordpress Built-in Menu is ON.
I thought it might be a wordpress issue so I updated that to the last version 3.4.2, but it didn´t work. My guess is related to the theme. No changes were made to any file at least for a month or two. Any suggestion how to solve this problem?
Maybe it is a cache problem? I have W3 total cache plugin installed.

However, in the blog posts they are shown as "Latest & Popular" rather than "Related & Popular" at least is how it has been translated. However, both list show the same so I think it's not adding so much value.

Are they working as expected?

Clear Cache Warning after 5.1.8 update

I just upgraded Striking running on my localhost server (XAMPP version 1.7.7 + the latest stable WP version) to 5.1.8. If I toggle "Clear Cache" and click "Save Changes" I get a warning:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in D:\Web\xampp\htdocs\test\wp-content\themes\km\framework\admin\options\theme_advance.php on line 25

but also a message:

All caches successfully emptied.
Updated Successfully

If I repeat the cache clearing I get the same warning but the message below says:

Updated Successfully

so I guess the cache is being cleared.

Striking is placed under "wp-content\themes\km\" directory instead of wp-content\themes\striking\but that was never a problem. I use the following plugins:

W3 Total Cache

New option "Display default thumbnail image" in 5.1.8 seems to work not very well...

I turned this new option on, and it works very well on the homepage, and it displays default thumbnail image when there is no feature image. But when I enter in a post, the extract below of "most popular posts" or "similar posts", don't show the default thumbnail image, and the space for image is empty.

When I used the Contact Info widget, I noticed that there was an extra space between City and Zip code and traced it down to the padding-left attribute. It's currently at 5px. Could you change it to 0px as the extra space looks unintentional? I know I can edit it from my end but I've to do that when updating themes. Thank you!

Blog Pagination Issue

If I click to the 10 page http://joanvendrell.com/page/10 really goes to http://joanvendrell.com/10/ (404 Not Found)

Not all strings translatable

I have successfully added all the strings to translate to my website but the 'striking - Search" widget always displays "Find" instead of the translated string. When you use the standard "Search" widget it translates the title correctly. I would rather use the Striking widget as I have a bit more control over the color.

I have not found any other Striking widget that displays this behavior.

Strange performance problems with custom menus in footer

Greetings,

I have a six column panel footer and have a custom menu widget in each footer widget panel. My site slows down significantly when the footer is enabled. If I disable the footer or remove the custom menu widgets in runs fine.

Is there a way to accomplish a similar six column footer as menus, but maybe defined as a single footer menu? I am suspecting that its the six separate custom menus that lags the system, not the fact that I have so many footer menu items displayed.

Is there any known issues with many custom menu widgets displayed on a page, like in my footer example, that slows down Striking?

Just installed the Striking theme, and I'm having a little problem posting video portfolio content for a client.

If you try to click on any video content ("A VIDEO" for example), there is a strange error message that says "Request unsuccessful: error". If you click on any image content ("A PHOTO"), everything works extremely well.

Font-face errors

Hello,

I love Striking, thank you. I had cufon activated until I saw from the discussions that font-face is "better." So I unchecked enable cufon, enabled font-face...and so far the font (at least in my feature header) doesn't work properly. Here is my experience.

1) At first it seemed to work...
2) I even selected the funky BPscriptRegular to see if it worked; it did.
3) Then all of a sudden the letters became very block-like and boring and then none of the changes I applied worked, not even the funky BPscriptRegular (which I was using as a test)
4) I refreshed my cache and cookies--still nothing
5) I went to the website fontsquirrel...and tried using one of the fonts there. For one of the serif fonts, it loaded it, kind of half wrong, once...and then when I reloaded it/tried other fonts, it went back to the boring block-like letters.
6) FYI I have only ever had ONE font enabled at a time

I'm not sure what to do!

IE 8 Cutting Off Top of Menu Font

I did a browser check for my website and noticed that in IE7 and IE8, the top of my menu fonts are being cut off (surprise, surprise, IE has compatibility issues). I think it's because the line height of my menu fonts isn't large enough. Is there coding I can enter into my Google Fonts Plugin (that I use with Striking) that would increase the line height and have MS Internet Disaster 7 and 8 show the entire font? Thanks.

Anything Slider and Cufon glitch in IE7/8

First of all - fantastic theme, this is my second implementation to date and all going reasonably smoothly.

However, for the home page I'm using the Anything Slider and Cufon for the headers. Nothing fancy - just some HTML containing H2 for the headers, text and Striking button.

However, as the slider progresses and returns back to the first slide, the cufon header text is replaced with boxes for a moment before being corrected a split second after the animation is complete. This only occurs:

- In IE 8 (FF/Chrome works fine)
- Only if you let it return to the first slide
- Not if you click back to the first slide

Please see attached screenshot. I've tried changing different animation settings but no luck.

It's not a massive problem functionally, but it does very much catch the eye - especially being the home page.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Apologies if this has been disussed before.

Shortcodes problems

When starting a new post or page - pressing the "Shortcodes" button at the toolbar - nothing happends ?
Normally a small window opens then, where you can select frames, boxes, typography and so on .. But not here.

Tried different browsers, explorer, firefox and chrome.

Portfolio Items Won't display horizontal line in Firefox (fine in IE and chrome)

I'm using shortcode to display my portfolio. I want the portfolio items to line up like
[item A][item B][item C]

but on firefox the last item will always end up a new line, like
[item A][item B]
[item C]

The best way I can come up with to fix it is to add a final "dummy item" at the end of the list so that at least all the items I want will end up on one line.

Relative link to fontface in css breaks when using minify/cdn

Hi Kaptin & Team,

Firstly, big thanks for an excellent theme.

I am using fontface and all works well when all files are on my main server in their original form.

However, when I use minify and a cdn, fontface breaks. The reason seems to be (as far as I understand) that the Striking CSS uses a relative link to the fontface files, and this link is not pointing the right location once the css is moved/edited through minification / cdn mirroring. I am serving visitors from Australia and Sweden, and wanted to host some resources on a CDN close to my visitors. I ended up first making the jss and css files smaller with minify, and then mirroring them with a cdn that has edge servers in both .se and .au. (Complete overkill for such a small site, but lots of geek fun to set up.) Doing this broke my fancy fontface font, though.

Therefore, may I please suggest that you consider changing the Striking-generated link to the fontface files by editing line 27 in framework/functions/skin.php to hard-link the font files?

For users who have had the same problems, my ugly edit on my install is as follows. Obviously, my domain in this case is swedesinaustralia.com, you should use your own...

Google Analytics & Sticky Footer

In the Striking footer section I have turned Sticky Footer to ON. When I insert my Google Analytics code, either with position Header or Bottom, the Sticky Footer option is ignored and a white bar is displayed. My other footer settings are: Footer OFF, Subfooter ON. I would like, of course, my Analytics code to work with the Sticky Footer option to ON.

Image counter in lightbox displays wrong # of images

I have two galleries 1)people with 12 images and 2)sports with 13 images. When I click on the people gallery the lightbox opens the first with an image counter 1of 25, and when I click on the sports gallery it opens with 13 of 25. Both are incorrect. The people gallery counter should say 1of 12 and the sports gallery counter should say 1of 13. Each counter should only display the number of images from the active gallery and not use totals.
Am I missing something or is this a bug?

Slider and Featured Images not showing up in Chrome

Had someone tell me that my slider on the home page and none of my featured images work on Chrome. So I fired up Chrome on my computer and sure enough, none of the work at all. Everything works fine on Safari, my default browser. Any ideas?

Sorry, other thing I've just discovered what I was doing wrong.

In WPML, even you say in the configuration you don't want to translate the categories, it seems it was necessary. The categories list in my new language was empty. What confused me was the draft image.

bbPress & Striking: default sidebar not appearing on bbPress-generated "pages"

First: apologies if I am posting this in the wrong forum.
Second: big thanks to KaptinLin & Team for such an excellent theme.

If anyone has managed to install bbPress with sidebars appearing automatically, I would love to know what I am doing wrong.

My issue:
I am trying to use bbPress, but am finding that Striking is not rendering the default sidebars on bbPress' pages (Forum, Topic, Reply). The column that is supposed to hold the sidebar remains blank with no widgets shown.

Observed behaviour:
No sidebar is rendered on bbPress "pages"; only an empty column.
If I define a custom sidebar and then in bbPress edit each Forum and Topic (thread) page to set that new sidebar as custom sidebar, I can get sidebars to appear on the relevant bbPress "pages". However, once a user creates a new topic (=forum thread), it inherits the default column/sidebar and a blank column is shown.

Desired behaviour:
I was hoping that Striking would render either the blog, page or another sidebar in the column across all bbPress-generated "pages" when the global layout is using a column/sidebar.

Theory / my guesses:
Since bbPress holds each forum/topic/reply as a custom post type, perhaps the theme does not detect that it should render a sidebar for pages coming from such post types, resulting in a blank column.

Observed on: bbPress (v.2.0.2) and Striking (v.5.1.7.).

There is also some issues with the Nivo Slider. We recently began using Amazon S3 CDN with W3 Total Cache. I have submitted a request with them but figured I would see if it is a theme issue as well. Anything Slider with HTML-only slides not working correctly

I am using Striking 5.1.7 with WP 3.3.1 and have a problem with the Anything Slider (used as shortcode on a site). Basically I have a few HTML divs that I'd like to display. However, if my slideshow consists of ONLY HTML slides, it won't work. I get all sorts of strange display errors, like all slides overlaying each other but not sliding etc. If, however, the first slide is a non-HTML slide (sidebar or image, doesn't matter), everything works fine.

Secondly, the number attribute on the slider shortcode does not work correctly (at least not in the HTML-only case); it seems to be "off by 1", meaning if I have two slides and set it to "2", only the first slide is rendered. If I set it to "3", both slides are shown.

Any help in getting the slider to work with pure HTML slides would be greatly appreciated. One further note: I applied the "transparent background hack" mentioned in the forum to get the slide's background transparent, but I don't think this is the problem here.

Page Pagination Issues

Video Portfolio Not Working Anymroe

Selecting "Video" as Portfolio Type, tried "Lightbox" and used iframe in the Lightbox Content area and still no go.

Have no idea what to try next to get video to play in the lightbox. Nothing pops up when I click on the image.

Nivo Slider Issue with mixed slides

Hi! I'm using Striking 5.1.5. Here is the site http://lyudmilastudio.com.
Each gallery section (Engagement, Portraits, Weddings, Lifestyle) has its own Nivo slider. Engagement page slider supposed to play engagement category of sliders. Portraits page plays portraits category of sliders. I mean each page has its own category of slides to play.

For some reason, Nivo slider mixes slides from different categories and also dublicate slides, so on the one page Nivo slider can play one slide two times. I've checked each slide, if it contains additional category. However, nothing helps. It is still mixing up slides. Can you please help me?

HTML5 Validation & Image Matter - FIXED IN VER 5.1.2 (almost)

I checked (http://validator.w3.org) my site to see if it's a valid HTML5 site and it's not. So I checked http://kaptinlin.com/themes/striking/ and there's also a lot of errors. Missing alt attributes (mostly for image_shadow.png), bad values in rel attributes, no space between attributes (height and alt framework\shortcodes\images.php), etc. We would have to change too many files in the Striking theme to fix it and the fixes will be overwritten after an update anyway so can you do something about it?

Problem with Lightbox and Google Map

I am having problems embedding the google map shortcode as inline content for a lightbox. Google maps is very small and floats into the top left hand corner of the lightbox.

Button messed up when pointing to an image

An mysterious thing is happening to buttons (put by shortcode or any other way) - the graphic, as well as font-face disappears when the link points to an image (I do not use colorbox but HS.js). If I only erase the file extension link from the article, everything works fine. I disabled the automatic global lightbox support, but no changes noticed.

I don't think this just happens with 5.1 because for months now I have seen the following error inside the striking folder in the error_log file:

^ I think the above error may be created when a spammer tries to call a page/comment file the wrong way, this is just a guess though.

Child Theme Troubles

I love the striking theme or more correctly its pretty much a framework for us developers. I have just begun using it as my main platform for client sites and I just have a few troubles that cause me grief on every striking version update and I am sure other users can benefit from these suggestions. I sure hope you consider the following changes to an already awesome theme.

I don't know if this is specific to version 5.1 or just 5.x as a whole. But I have noticed that using striking as a child/parent theme has a few issues I have noticed.

Issue 1: Theme Name and Slug
There is an issue with the way the theme name and slug information is stored. Any child theme name requires the change of the above code in order to show the proper name of the theme in the Wordpress dashboard menu.

*** My current fix and suggestion is to make a copy of the info.php file into: child theme/framework/info.php and change the loading call in the parent theme/functions.php file to:

Issue 2: Caching Troubles
I have noticed that by clearing the image cache in the advanced settings in one child theme, it will clear the whole cache (which is stored in the parent folder, therefore clearing the cache for any and all child themes), but the other child themes are not notified and will still be referencing the cached images instead of the regular image files which then creates broken images in the pages. To fix this, you have to clear the cache in ALL those other child themes.

*** My current fix and suggestion is that when a child theme is used the setting in the CHILD framework/theme.php needs to be set as shown below and then the image cache would be in the child theme folder and would not affect any other child themes.

My fix details(fixes issue 4 also): Edit childtheme/framework/theme.php

Issue 3: Changing the Navigation Menu Font in jqueryslidemenu.js
In order to edit the default text used in the main navigation menu, the text has to not only be changed in the striking theme options, but I have had to also edit this file for it to change during hover over. (Please let me know if I am incorrect). This poses a problem for child themes, as I have had to also copy this file over into the child theme, and then edit the parent theme/framework/functions/head.php to reference the child theme version in the head.php file. Please let me know if I am doing this wrong or if not then is there a way to make the jqueryslidemenu.js reference a call to a setting that we can change in the Theme options (provided you add one). I would imagine if you can set the navigation font size in the theme options, there should be a way to change the font used as well. Please! :)

My current edit: parent theme/framework/functions/head.php

Issue 4: Child CSS Files
When striking is used on a multisite the child css files are stored in the parent theme folder using the ID of the child site in the name to keep them separated, this is not a bad idea, but makes the child theme much less versatile if the client wishes to migrate to a new host in the future. In this instance the webhost would then have to find the correct skin.css file and move the skin.css into a stand alone striking theme. What I have done to make life easier later on down the line is that I edited my striking parent theme to save the skin.css file to the child theme folder and also load it from there. I hope you see merit in making that the default vs the current method. It would be easier to just keep the child theme skin.css file with the child theme. No hunting down site ID's and figuring out which file goes with what.

Anything slider shortcode, different transitions not working

Hi,

I recently came across an issue when upgrading to Striking 5.1.6 and Wordpress 3.3.1.
Upon using the Anything slider shortcode, I noticed that the transitions are always the same, even if I change it from "swing" to "easeInCubic" for example. In the previous versions, the transitions worked fine.

Anyone have a fix for this?

i just purchased the theme about five hours ago and i realized that after updating everything, i cannot go to my other pages on my blog. for example:

i try to click on page 3 of my blog. the current link should be:

http://justsomeblog.com/page/3/

but it automatically redirects me to http://justsomeblog.com/3 and the 404 - not found error page.

not sure what is going on. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi have just upgraded my site and am having a few issues getting it up and running again.

Hi,

Colors of a PNG image stored in the media library are changed slightly when inserted as custom logo.

For instance, the background color code of the logo before being uploaded to WP is #0C90C0, once in the WP media library it still remains #0C90C0, but once inserted as custom logo in Striking->General admin panel, turns into a mix of #3090BE and #2F8FBE, no matter if you look at it on the actual website or in striking->general admin panel. The diference is subtle but if I compare the original logo to the final result I can notice the diference.

I tried it as well inserting the logo from a url instead of from the WP media library and it happens exactly the same.

The only thing I can think of is some kind of compression applied to the png file when inserted as custom logo, that is altering the colors.

I know all this sounds weird but I promisse I checked it many times. I hope this is not an imagined error or some basic stuff I should already know, sorry if that is the case.

Striking 5.17 - Error with images?

Hi everyone,
I've been using Striking for more than a year now and everything went fine so far... :-)

Since I've updated the theme to version 5.1.7 I get some errors in every page that contains one or more images...
I tried to re-download the theme form Themeforest and reinstall it, but it didn't work...

This is the error code visible on every page with images...

Unable to open errors on Featured Images

I woke up this morning to a server permissions error on the cache folder, skin folder, and images folder. I went in and modified the permissions like your how to suggests (I put all 3 to 777). That seemed to clear the errors. Now im getting the following error on the individual posts for the featured images. I did try clearing the cache.

I am experiencing many bugs in the latest update - l will report steps although l'm aware l did not do this task in the previous version. So l don't know if it is my error or a bug. I have replicated it many times.
